Climb every mountain

posted by Justin @ 5:24:00 pm

Thought we'd climb the local mountain (Mt. Taylor) on the weekend.

Anna all rugged up, despite my assurances she would not need the coat and beanie. She was de-coated very quickly :-)

Someone should have gone before we left home......

Not really at the top yet, but a spot of sitting down and binocularing is in order....

Here's Telstra tower from this point - always in our view.

and a slightly less attractive view:

I attempted to take a photo through the binoculars. This was always doomed to fail, but the result is kinda pretty so I thought I'd put it here :-)

We didn't quite get to the very very top, but it's pretty good from this point. In the middle distance you can see the city of Woden, and in the far distance (you'll have to click the picture to see the detail), to the right of Telstra tower, the city proper:

I can see our house from here! Well actually I can see the brown patch of open scrub (middle distance) that our house is just to the right of.... we'd walked a surprisingly long way!

Look what the cat didn't drag in

posted by Justin @ 3:46:00 pm

Our cat is a pretty good ratter. However we don't appreciate it when she brings them inside. So when that happened last night we duly threw both rat and cat outside.

I expected something quite gory on the front doorstep this morning (she doesn't just catch them, she eats them too) but I wasn't prepared for this:

Yes, that's exactly how I found it. Upright, with no other 'pieces' in sight.

Is there anything more reproachful than a dead rats eye?
